Hi Parents,
The most amazing feature of this week is the mammal reports that your children are writing with care, thoughtfulness, and creativity. You will be able to see these and take them home along with your child’s paper mache mammal that corresponds with the report when you attend the Science Fair/STEM FEST on Saturday, February 1 at the Power Campus from 9-12. You will be in awe of your child’s work.
We wrapped up mammal study this week by comparing and contrasting them with fish and reading fact sheets about various mammals.
Spelling Tests show great improvement. I can see you are practicing at home. Thanks for your hard work. Remember to practice the first 5 words for mastery, all other words are bonus words. This coming week’s words are: oil, boil, coin, joy, toy, point, join, foil, noise, loyal.
The emphasis on math this week was recognizing and drawing numbers in expanded form in preparation for adding them by regrouping with a new ten.
ELA skills this week included practice with au/aw words, and personal pronouns.
We are celebrating our state’s birthday and Valentine’s Day with all the first graders rotating through 7 centers of activities on Friday, February 14th from 12:40-2:40. We need parent volunteers to help on that day and for those of you who can’t come in, but want to help, there are preparations you can do at home. I will send a link to sign up in a separate email.
Your child is also invited to bring in a Valentine for each child in our class: Austin, Andrew, Caleb, Caroline, Cooper, Devin, Elona, Emma, Graham, Hudson A., Hudson S., Jane, Johan, Josh, Kellen, Lucas, Milo, Mya, Selah, Zerah – 20 – Kindly remember the school policy of not bringing candy to school.
